Sheppard's neighbor, the famous detective Hercule Poirot, enters into the murder mystery. Dr. Sheppard follows Poriot around and records everything the detective finds - from a missing son to a married maid to the theft of household money and much more.
In the end, Poirot invites everyone to a room where he talks about the case, and tells them that he has the solution - which he will reveal to the police in 24 hours. The only way for an innocent person to be saved is for the real killer to confess ... and even though Dr. Sheppard has all the facts of the case, he can't see how Poirot could put them all together into the surprising solution to the mystery of the murder of Roger Ackroyd.
